Ayr Who's Who
Public Profile

West Coast Anglicans
"Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30.

Distinguished and Famous people from Ayr
Ayr's connections with public figures include a golfer whose first coach worked at the local course and a solicitor whose career extended into the Senate. Both stories involve sustained local activity before wider recognition.
⛳ Karrie Webb
Karrie Webb was born in Ayr and developed her golf at the town's club, where greenkeeper Kelvin Haller was her first coach. She went on to win seven major championships and enter the World Golf Hall of Fame. Her connection with junior golf continued through visits and support for emerging players, including a return to Ayr's scholarship participants in 2024. An international career has therefore retained a practical link with the course where it began.
🤝 Ian Macdonald
Ian Macdonald attended Ayr State High School and began working with local legal firm Groves and Clark in 1964. He became a solicitor and served on Burdekin Shire Council before a long career representing Queensland in the Senate. In a submission to the Queensland Parliament, he described himself as a longstanding Ayr resident. His local story includes education, professional work and council service, rather than simply a political visit to the district.
